Arrive Kirkenes /shared Transfer to Snow Hotel 365

At Snowhotel 365, stay in the unique game cabins and enjoy the restaurant all year round. The cabins are inspired by the traditional hunting and fishing huts (“Gammes”) that you find in the wilderness of Lapland - the Sami areas of the Arctic.

HUSKY EXPERIENCE - WINTER 13:00

 

Our huskies are ready to run! Join them for an arctic dog sledding experience in the wilderness, surrounded by snow-covered landscapes and frozen fjords. This tour includes transfer to/from. 

 

We start dogsledding already on October 20th, with snow saved from last winter season. On this tour, you are driven by our dogmusher – 2 people per sled. Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Kirkenes, and take you on a 15-minute ride to the Snowhotel Kirkenes camp outside Kirkenes. The tour is approximately 6 km and goes along the fjord and through classic arctic, lightly forested wilderness.

HUNTING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS BY BUS 21:00

 

Northern Lights is perhaps the most beautiful natural phenomenon you will ever have the opportunity of seeing—an explosion of green fluttering like a veil across the arctic sky.

When you look up at the Aurora, you realize how small you are in the vastness of nature. Sometimes the lights are in plain sight - sometimes, we must hunt them. On this Aurora Express tour, we will make sure you get the chance of witnessing this beautiful sight.

HUNTING NORTHERN LIGHTS CHASE BY HUSKY 21:00

A seasoned musher will take you by dogsled to the arctic fjord and tundra, to search for the Northern Lights. Travel naturally by dog power, with only the sound of the snow, the huskies and the arctic wind. Nature covered by snow, a frozen fjord beneath you, a team of strong huskies in front, and a beautiful star-studded sky above. If you are lucky, the Northern Lights will make an appearance.

Riding a snowmobile can be challenging, but with professional guides, with intimate insight of arctic nature and conditions, and state-of-the-art skidoos, you will be perfectly safe on the snowmobile safari, and at the same time have great FUN! OPTION 1. A TASTE PF VESTERALEN 

The tour bus waits at the quay and takes you through Harstad to Trondenes Church for a guided tour and tourist devotions. Visit to Trondenes Historical Centre and the medieval farm with actors and live animals. Onwards by bus with photo stops and a stop for waffles, local "lefse" (traditional soft Norwegian flatbread) and tea/coffee. Then you board the Havila Voyages ship in Sortland.

OPTION 2.

BREWERY VISIT AND BEER TASTING, SOUTHBOUND

Sample what happens when fresh mountain water from Lofoten combines with malt, hops and yeast to create the taste of Lofoten. 

We take a short walk from the ship to the brewery where we get a 45-minute guided tour. Afterwards, you can take a walk on your own in the centre of Svolvær for about half an hour before you need to be back on the ship.

THE NORWEGIAN SALMON ADVENTURE 

Visit a fish farm, and see salmon swimming around in the cold, clear water. 

The Norwegian coast with plenty of space and clean waters are perfect growing conditions for salmon. Large, round cages, in which salmon of all sizes swim, are found in the fjords and out on the coast.

Underwater cameras and control rooms with many screens help to ensure that the salmon are well looked after. You can take part in feeding the salmon, learn about modern aquaculture and, of course, taste this Norwegian delicacy.

HIKING AROUND TORGHATTEN-WINTER

Come along on a visit to Torghatten; the mythical mountain with a hole in the middle, and let your imagination run wild!

A local guide will meet you at the quay and join you on the bus to the foot of the mountain. From there, you will walk to the best viewpoint of the area, before taking a small detour to have a closer look on Torghatten’s geology. Finally, the whole group gathers at the bus, where you will be offered local snacks; gløgg and lefse. Wear good, waterproof shoes. A headlight, poles, and shoe spikes will be provided.

Trondheim with its small-town charm and colorful, old wooden houses from the 17th century, is also home to modern sports facilities, educational and research institutions, and a lively nightlife.The guides will meet you at the quay. Bus through the city centre into Nidaros Cathedral and then bus back to the quay. The visit in the church lasts for about 40 minutes, included a 20-minute long guided tour.

One stormy winter night in 1904, a fire raged through Ålesund. By morning, 850 houses were in ruins and more than 10,000 people were homeless. In the course of a record-breaking three years, the town rose from the ashes. This is how Ålesund became an art nouveau city with a rare architectural expression. 

The guide will meet you on the quay and take you on a short walk through the city centre before visiting and touring Jugendstilsenteret (the Art Nouveau Centre). Stroll back to your Havila Voyages ship.

BERGEN AND MOUNT ULRIKEN FROM SEA TO SUMMIT 

Upon arrival at the terminal, you meet the guide and place your luggage on the electrical bus before going on a tour through the central parts of Bergen. This includes a short, guided walk through the UNESCO World Heritage site, Bryggen. Enjoy the view of Bergen and its surrounding landscapes as you take the cable car to the top of Mount Ulriken, the highest mountain surrounding Bergen, where you will be served the famous Bergen fish soup and a local twist on the cinnamon bun. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel or the city center. Dress appropriately; the weather may change quickly.
