Five years ago almost nobody from Gujarat asked us about Vietnam. Today it's one of our fastest-growing requests — and deservedly so. It offers the drama of Ha Long Bay, golden-bridge mountain views, French-colonial streets and beach resorts, with a simple e-visa that clears in 3–5 working days and packages starting from around ₹44,999 per person.
Where to go — the three Vietnams
In the north, Hanoi is the atmospheric capital of lakes, old quarters and street cafés, and two hours away Ha Long Bay's thousands of limestone islands are the country's signature sight, best experienced on an overnight cruise with a cabin on the water — this is the Vietnam of postcards. In the centre, Da Nang is the beach-city base with the famous Golden Bridge held up by giant stone hands at Ba Na Hills, and twenty minutes away Hoi An is the lantern-lit ancient town that tops most travellers' memories, packing beaches, mountains and heritage into one compact stay. In the south, Ho Chi Minh City is the buzzing commercial capital, with war-history museums, the Cu Chi tunnels and Mekong Delta boat trips — add Phu Quoc island if you want a beach finish.

Best time to visit — it depends where
The north, around Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, is best October to April, when it's cool and dry, though winter can be misty. The centre, around Da Nang and Hoi An, has its beach season from February to August, with the heaviest rain in October and November. The south, around Ho Chi Minh City, is best December to April in the dry season, and warm year-round. Vietnam is long and thin, so the regions have different seasons — we plan the route around your month.
The visa is genuinely easy
Vietnam offers Indian passport holders an e-visa, applied online and typically approved in 3–5 working days, with long-stay validity that comfortably covers any holiday. There's no embassy visit and no biometrics — we file it as part of your package. There are direct flights from major Indian metros to Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, so from Gujarat you connect via Mumbai or Delhi, often surprisingly cheaply as Vietnamese and Indian low-cost carriers compete on these routes. A classic routing is to fly into Hanoi, travel south, and fly home from Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City so you never backtrack.
Vegetarian food and what it costs
Vietnam has a strong Buddhist vegetarian tradition — look for "chay" (vegetarian) eateries, which exist in every city, and tourist hubs like Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh also have Indian restaurants; we map the veg and Indian options into your itinerary, and brief restaurants ahead for Jain travellers. This is Vietnam's superpower on cost too: a 5-night Hanoi–Ha Long–Da Nang package from Gujarat starts around ₹44,999 per person including flights, the e-visa, hotels and tours, and once there, everything from meals to massages costs noticeably less than Thailand.
